ESD bags are used to protects components which are in the risk of damage by electrostatic discharge.

There are three types or categories of ESD bags: antistatic bags, dissipative bags and metallized bags.

Obviously, ESD sensitive components will be moved. This will be and should be possible both in and outside the EPAs. The most important thing in this respect is to make good use of the necessary protective packaging.

The standard, IEC61340-5-1, requires the following to achieve the proper packaging property for various components (products):

3. Metalic shielding bags

4. Cardboard box with enclosed conductive layer
